Three Rivers Flower Cooperative

Based in Pittsburgh, PA

The Three Rivers Flower Cooperative (3RFC) is a comprehensive source of cut flowers produced entirely by regional growers, sold to the greater Pittsburgh area. Fifteen farms have come together to offer a wide variety of unique and beautiful wholesale cut flowers grown in Western Pennsylvania soil.

Each Thursday morning, their wholesale market on E Warrington Ave brings all of that variety under one roof, giving Pittsburgh's florists and flower buyers a single place to source truly local blooms.

Their Mission

3RFC exists to promote the value of seasonal, sustainable, high-quality flowers grown by local farmers in Western Pennsylvania.

As a group, they value community support, transparency, shared expertise, equity among members, and environmental stewardship — because for these growers, how the cooperative treats its people and its land matters just as much as what ends up in the bucket.

The Team

3RFC is a true cooperative: owned and operated by its producer-members as a Pennsylvania Cooperative Corporation, guided by the principles that shape cooperative businesses everywhere. The board is led by President Vita Porobil and Vice President/Market Manager Allie Logue, with each member farm bringing its own specialties to the table — together offering the variety and volume that no single farm could carry alone.

Becoming a Rooted Grantee

When we asked the team what the grant means for the cooperative, their answer said it all:

"Thank you so much for this opportunity! When starting a cooperative, there is a lot of work and very little initial funding. Rooted has made this startup smoother, and we so appreciate it!"

Starting a cooperative takes an enormous amount of trust, coordination, and unpaid hours before the first stem is ever sold. The groundwork this group has laid — the community, the values, the systems — gives us every reason to believe the best is still ahead for 3RFC. We couldn't be more excited to cheer them on.
