Rooted Farmers is an agricultural technology startup committed to empowering small and mid-size farms to transform the world. We serve as a software and online sales platform, providing farms with tools and analytics to support inventory management and sales, connecting farms and hubs with wholesale and retail buyers.
Rooted is comprised of a small but growing team of mission-driven individuals based in the Northeast. We are seeking a Social Media Manager who is passionate about empowering farmers to compete in a global economy while increasing the market share of sustainably-grown agriculture.
About the Role:
We're looking for a creative, strategic social media manager who wants to own our presence end-to-end. The role will require more than execution; you will be expected to bring ideas, understand brand voice, keep a pulse on trends, and build a social presence that genuinely resonates with the Rooted community. You'll manage our Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, shaping how Rooted shows up online and helping us grow a community that growers want to be part of.
This is a part-time, hourly role. You will work remotely and should ideally be located on the East Coast to facilitate ETD working hours and some in-person content capturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own our Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn — strategy, content calendar, posting, and engagement
- Create and produce original content: posts, stories, reels, and graphics that feel authentic to the Rooted community
- Develop and maintain a consistent brand voice that's warm, farmer-first, and sometimes funny
- Track performance metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth, and more)
- Use metrics and data to continuously improve our social media strategy
- Amplify user-generated content, partner features, and community stories
- Monitor DMs, comments, and tags – making sure our community feels heard
- Stay on top of trends and bring fresh ideas for growing reach and engagement
- Collaborate with our team to align content with campaigns, product launches, and seasonal moments – attend weekly meetings
- Edit video content for reels and social stories
- Manage social media advertising – ads and boosting
- Report to our Marketing Manager for content and strategy review
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of social media management experience, ideally managing brand or business accounts (portfolio of work required)
- A digital native – you understand social media platforms intuitively and can tell why a piece of content is or isn’t working and articulate why
- A strong strategic instinct – you don't just execute, you think about why and what's next
- Excellent writing skills with a warm, approachable, and conversational tone
- Sharp visual eye for storytelling, design, and brand aesthetics
- Skilled in core production tools: CapCut, Premiere or other video editing software, Figma, Canva, or Photoshop for image design, and Rella for content scheduling and management
- Comfortable with analytics – you can read insights and turn them into action
- Organized and reliable with strong time management skills
- Genuine curiosity about agriculture, farming, or food systems is a big plus
Bonus if You Have:
- Background in or connection to farming, agriculture, or rural communities
- Experience growing an audience from the ground up
- Located in the Northeast – particularly within driving distance of New Hampshire
What We Offer:
- A flexible, part-time remote role with real ownership and creative latitude
- A mission-driven team that genuinely cares about the people we serve
- Room to grow – this role has the potential to expand over time
