Treehorn Farm

Climax, NY
FARM

We're an autistic/woman-owned, family-run flower farm and bookstore 25-minutes from Hudson, New York at the foot of the Catskill Mountains (just five minutes from Coxsackie). We also have a flock of happy ducks who enjoy an all-organic diet, and we grow vegetables, specialty berries, and willow. We do regenerative farming, a nature-based agriculture solution that is rethinking the entire conventional (and extractive!) farm operation. It helps us do our part for the planet by building biodiversity, creating habitats for small mammals and songbirds, increasing soil health, and mitigating the impacts of climate change. In addition to farming, we're lifelong creatives — Melissa is an artist, journalist, and author, and Mark is a composer (award-winning film docs) and musician (co-founder of the band, Soul Coughing). We have three kids in their 20s and one toddler, our Tiny Treehorn, who is the real boss of our farm operations.

Summer Sunflowers and Bright Fillers

Summer Sunflowers and Bright Fillers

Mixed

We’ll take a simple, yet artfully arranged, bouquet over perfect and fussy any day of the week. Sunflowers in all colors, nigella that has mostly gone to seed (with some blooms in white/blue), feverfew, cosmos, zinnias, snapdragons, a few bright yellow rudbeckia to make the arrangement look like fireworks, anise hyssop, and whatever else is currently in bloom. Finally, a few deep red bee balm and purple anise hyssop — because they’re lovely, but also because we love the perfume they make together. Bee balm has a slightly musky, Earl Grey scent (cardamom!), and anise is like mellowed licorice. Together… chef’s kiss — a sweet, subtly earthy aroma that is difficult to place… but evokes the best sort of memories.

TROPAEOLUM majus Kaleidoscope

TROPAEOLUM majus Kaleidoscope

Mixed
8-12 in.

We've used our kaleidoscope nasturtiums in most of our weddings this year. Note: Most are in shades of orange; some are yellow; others are variegated (shown in photo). We're offering ours with 8-10 inch stems, with leaves/blooms running along the majority of the stem. We use ours in bud vases and for lovely texture in larger bouquets. If you'd like longer (or shorter!) stems to work with (as table runners, for instance), please reach out — we'd be happy to cut longer vines or just flower stems upon request (fees adjusted accordingly).
